Here’s some of what will be waiting for me when I get back from work. Also, the neighbor’s kitchen knives on the left side of the frame are sharpened and ready to return.

Some pics to tide you over
Yep, another hiatus coming up.
But just so y’all don’t think I’ve disappeared, here are a few pix to hold you over ’til i’m back in the swing of things:
Kitchen Carver Rescue
This knife was battered against the grinder about 18 months ago – I didn’t realize the steel wasn’t flat until a bit too late… It was in such bad shape that it sat in a drawer for nearly that long. Awhile back I sanded one side. Last week I sanded the other, and then stuck it in the new forge for heat-treat. It has alot of flaws, BUT the rescue turned out pretty well, and it’s going right in my knife block.
1095 and Guayacan, about 0.115″ at the ricasso and ~5.5″ tip to scales.
The wood was a real surprise. It came from a Woodcrafter store-closing sale. The block felt nice and heavy, but the grain looked kind of boring. Wow, does it shine up nice!
